Hello everybody, I'd like to introduce myself, my name is Adam Bendig and I work for Muse Presentation Technologies. I'll be hanging out around here to help answer questions and bring you some news regarding audio and video technologies for tradeshows, exhibits and events. R&D and Programming are a few of the many hats I wear at Muse.
Muse has been around for 30 years now. We have done work all over the globe, from stadiums and amusement parks to live broadcast work, tradeshows and museums, offsite events and corporate meetings and boardrooms. These days we are primarily a rental and staging company focusing on providing new and innovative solutions to tradeshows.
I don't want to turn this into too much of an advert so I'll leave it at that, but I'm looking forward to meeting other industry pros on here and hopefully offering some advice and information that you'll find helpful.

Great to have you on board.
Great to have you on board. I know many people have questions about Audio Video and I bet they will get some good answers. What is bigger these days? LCD, Plasma or projection when it comes to video presentation?

Hey Adam, Nice to know there
Hey Adam,
Nice to know there is someone to help with these questions.
What would you suggest using in your exhibits LCD or Plasma? I think LCD's are lighter but other then that are there any other benefits?

These are probably some good
These are probably some good intro topics for my blog, but the short answer is "It all depends" They all have a place and everything is a compromise.
"How big do you want to go" is the main focus when choosing a display medium. Presently the 103" Panasonic plasma is the largest in production. Hitachi also puts their name on this display. The 150" exists but takes a plane all to itself to transport, and isn't available. The largest lcd is 108" and produced by Sharp and priced about 50% more then the Panasonic plasma. The image is very nice on both however. Projection has it's place, but despite lower initial cost compared to a Panasonic 103", it may in fact cost the exhibitor more in drayage and square feet. I'll get more in depth on this in the blog but these are factors to consider. There is also LED panels, which offer brilliant colors and a wonderful resolution when used properly. in the 40-65" range it will be a tossup between LCD and Plasma. Once you get into the 100" and larger range there are factors to consider such as possible rigging, wall mounting, backstage space... You really need to look at your exhibit and discuss these topics with your rental and staging company. Remember too, content is important! You can't play a video off of youtube on a 103" plasma and expect it to look incredible. Again, that's another blog entry :D
My summary is that each technology has it's advantages and it really does depend on the application, but that's why people like myself and your project managers are around. We have the experience to know what to look for and how to get the most out of your presentation.
Thanks, Adam. On the sales
Thanks, Adam. On the sales end, I find that the LCD v. Plasma debate tends to receive only cursory discussion - either someone wants to go cheap, or they want to go the extra mile, but in reality the application needs to be examined, not so much the equipment. When it comes to larger applications, people are more interested in the details you're laying out. Thanks for enlightening us!
